Manchester United lost 1-2 to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday. They played a dull game.
Even though it was only once, manager Erik Ten Hag made the same stupid choices that have hurt the team all season.
It was a shame that Rasmus Hojlund couldn’t play because he was sick, but adding Antony was a bad idea given how important the Brazilian has been this season.
Antony’s bad show keeps going.
The former Ajax star has let his boss and club down this season with no goals or assists. What’s worse is that Ten Hag keeps picking him even though it would be easier to play someone else.
Antony, who is 23 years old, played until the 54th minute before being replaced by Amad Diallo, who proved in 30 minutes why he should start over Antony.
The Ivorian played 22 times with the ball and completed 89 percent of his passes, while the Brazil international only completed 78 percent.
It’s not that Antony tried to play hard balls; he was just terrible in every way (all numbers from Sofascore).
The young star from Atalanta made one important pass and had a good low shot on goal after beating his man that was saved by the Forest custodian.
Amad should be given more chances.
Antony, on the other hand, didn’t score any goals or pass the ball. Fans have come to expect the worst from the player, so this doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
The Ivory Coast player won all of his duels, while Antony only won 40% of his. He also won a free kick and made and won a tackle to help Ten Hag’s team get the ball back.
A lot of news stories have said that the young winger could leave on loan in January. But the 21-year-old should get more chances because of how well he played in his appearance on Saturday.
In the FA Cup match against Wigan on January 8, Ten Hag can make up for his mistake by playing Amad.
