During the thrilling 2-1 victory over Brentford, Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay gave one of the best cameos in the Premier League.
The Red Devils fell down in the 26th minute after a dismal start at Old Trafford earlier today. Due to Andre Onana’s careless play, Mathias Jensen gave the visitors the lead.
Before McTominay’s heroics off the bench, United appeared to be headed for a fifth league loss of the season as the Bees held onto their lead until stoppage time.
In the ninetieth minute, the Scot tied the score for United with a goal off the rebound of Diogo Dalot’s strike. McTominay scored a stunning winner in the 97th minute after tipping his header over Thomas Strakosha.
Under manager Erik ten Hag, the 26-year-old has not made many starts, but he made a significant impression against the Bees with a performance that might turn around his career after the international break.
Aside from his two goals, McTominay won all ten of his ground duels and completed all of his passes. The Scot, who was expected to depart last summer, gave a brilliant display.
With 12 points after the win, United is still ranked 10th in the league standings. With a game remaining, Liverpool, who are in fourth position, are presently four points ahead of them.
Ten Hag will be hoping that the victory will open the door for improved performances following the international break, since their performance against Brentford was subpar before to the stunning comeback.
