United lost 4–3 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday in the Premier League. It was the second time in a row that they let a lead slip in extra time.
The away team had a 3-2 lead until the ninth minute of extra time when Diogo Dalot gave up a penalty that Cole Palmer scored to tie the game.
There should have been a review of the penalty because it was too easy, but by the time it was taken, the Portugal player seemed to have lost his temper.
The Portuguese then made another mistake that led to a corner kick, which was scored by the same player to give Chelsea all three points.
The full-back started on the left side of the field for the game. Aaron Wan-Bissaka had been starting there for the past two games.
Dalot’s bad game
This switch between positions didn’t work this time; the former Manchester City star beat the former Porto player the whole 90 minutes.
On that night, Dalot only won 41% of his duels and lost the ball 11 times. Besides that, he gave up five fouls.
The 25-year-old is usually a good passer, but he wasn’t feeling safe during the game. Only 30 of his 37 passes found a partner, which is an 81 percent completion rate.
Dalot’s long balls didn’t hit their mark, but he did help Bruno Fernandes score the equalizer. It was his defense that let the team down, though.
Sofascore gave him a score of 6.2, which was the lowest of any United player. Dalot has been one of the better players this season, but he still makes a lot of mistakes on defense.
Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans limp off, and Ten Hag’s best defender is having a terrible day. This is bad news before Sunday’s game against Liverpool.
Eth is having trouble
