Man United has just had an impressive comeback against Nottingham Forest. Here are 5 highlights after the match at Old Trafford.
1. The Red Devil is like a dream
When the audience at the Theater of Dreams was not yet warm, Man United let the visitors score 2 goals after 4 minutes. It was something few could imagine. The Red Devils’ dreamlike defense has been fully exploited by Nottingham Forest.
Awoniyi opened the scoring by taking advantage of some amusing home team defenses. In his own half, he gained control of the ball and launched a counterattack while Marcus Rashford attempted to stymie the Forest star as the last defender. Then, Boly quickly added a second goal by heading in a cross from Morgan Gibbs-White.Man United appeared to be facing disaster, but happily, they still have stars.
2. Unlock the star
One of United’s biggest problems this season has been Rashford’s form. The England international played very well last season with 30 goals. However, he faded into the middle role against Wolves and Tottenham, making fans worried.
Coming to the match against Forest, Rashford seemed to be unlocked when he was arranged to kick his forte left wing. It was a wise decision of Ten Hag, helping the Three Lions star show off the most special things. Rashford’s speed and technique made Forest’s defense difficult to block. He assisted Christian Eriksen to score the first goal for Man United, played an important role in Casemiro’s goal and had a breakthrough to bring home a penalty from which Bruno Fernandes took advantage of success, sealing the victory 3-2 .
3. Mount should be worried
Mason Mount has failed to impress since moving to Old Trafford in a £60m deal from Chelsea and then being handed the legendary No.7
Mount’s long-term injury gave Eriksen the opportunity to shine. The Dane played a huge part in United’s success last season and recently, he did not disappoint Erik ten Hag with the opening goal of the Reds’ impressive comeback. Will Mount be able to win the main kick when he recovers? This is a question that no one can confidently answer ‘yes’.
4. From Zero to Hero
To be fair, Casemiro has had a bad start to the season. The Brazilian’s performances against Wolves and Tottenham were criticized by Jamie Carragher and many pundits. Before Forest, when Man United had a bad start, people began to worry that Casemiro was old. Then the former Real Madrid star somehow couldn’t get the ball into the empty net from about 3m away. If the Red Devils lose the battle, Casemiro will be mentioned a lot.
Fortunately, Casemiro shone at the right time with a goal to help Man United equalize. He also made a big impact, helping the Red Devils midfield control the ball superior to the visitors.
5. 2 black points
.
The victory over Forest once again showed great concern in the Red Devils attack. They lack a true striker while waiting for rookie Rasmus Hojlund to recover.
Anthony Martial was used from the start, but had a lackluster contribution and it was difficult for him to continue to be trusted by coach Ten Hag. The one who came on to replace Martial after that, Jadon Sancho was equally disappointing. The former Dortmund player is limited in speed and technique, the strength to make an impact in the attack.
