A report says that Alphonso Davies would consider an offer from Manchester United if they are willing to meet his wage expectations.
Davies’s contract with Bayern Munich is almost up for the last six months, and the left-back is still no closer to agreeing to a new one. Money is thought to be the main problem at this point.
Davies is now being sought after by more foreign teams since he is free to talk to them after only two months. United was recently mentioned as a possible suitor, but Real Madrid, who have been interested in Davies for a long time, are currently in the lead.
Many people think that Madrid will win the race to sign Davies, but Christian Falk says that a move to Spain is by no means a sure thing.
Davies would be willing to listen to United’s offer if they said they were willing to pay him around €20m (£16.7m) a season.
Davies is still thought to want to play for Real Madrid, but the Spanish team needs to make Davies a good deal. Talks with Bayern broke down when the Bundesliga leaders refused to meet his financial demands.
United made an offer higher than Madrid’s for center-back Leny Yoro in the summer, even though both Yoro and Davies were expected to go to the Santiago Bernabeu.
United offered the young defender a higher salary than Madrid was willing to pay. However, Madrid was unwilling to pay because Yoro was in the last year of his deal and could have been signed for free in 2025, just like Davies. Madrid might be able to spend a little more if they can sign the left-back without having to pay a transfer fee.
