Spain’s club talked about the deal on Friday, just before the summer transfer market closed.

United will pay him most of his £75,000-a-week salary if he stays in Spain for a while. The loan doesn’t cost anything.

The club also said in a press statement, “The move gives Greenwood a chance to start over with his career away from Manchester United.”

It’s not going to change that the club will still help Mason and his family.

United had already said that Greenwood and the club had “mutually agreed” to end their relationship once they knew why he was being held.

If the club wants to, they can add one more year to Greenwood’s contract. He still has two years to go.
