ALL SMILING: David Beckham pays tribute to Inter Miami’s first year with Lionel Messi by going to dinner with the Argentine and midfielder Sergio Busquets in Vice City

David Beckham paid tribute to Inter Miami after the team’s last game of the season last weekend. He got together with Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets to enjoy the club’s first trophy with them over dinner in Vice City.

The former England captain put his arm around his 24-year-old oldest son Brooklyn while taking pictures with the two former Barcelona players. Both players were key to Miami’s success in the second half of the season after joining the club in mid-July.

It was the end of Miami’s season on Saturday when they lost 1-0 to The Crown in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Herons were already out of the running for the playoffs after their 0-1 loss to Cincinnati FC earlier this month. Miami, on the other hand, beat Nashville SC (1–1, 10–9 on penalties) to win the Leagues Cup in August. Messi scored 10 goals, which was the most in the tournament, and Busquets played in all of Miami’s cup games.

This is the end of another season at this amazing football club… and what a season it has been,” Beckham, 45, wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. For the special trip we’ve been on together, I want to thank the players, the staff, and of course our wonderful fans, La Familia. We can all be very proud of this important part of our story. We’ll do it again next year… Let’s #FreedomToDream!

Messi said that his first season in South Florida was “incredible.” He also said he was “proud” to be a part of the club’s past. Messi and the rest of Inter Miami’s players are set to play two friendly games in China next month, on November 5 and November 8. This will be the club’s first-ever trip abroad.

Messi will then play with the Argentina national team in World Cup qualifiers on November 16 and November 21. He should then have a long break before Inter Miami starts getting ready for 2024. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner turned down a possible return on loan to Barcelona so that he could stay fit for the MLS season, which runs from mid-October to late February or early March each year.

He was seen at an Ed Sheeran show at Hard Rock Live on Sunday with his wife Antonella and their three children.

Messi, who is 36 years old, has scored 11 goals in 14 games this season for Miami. Since the World Cup winner joined in the summer, the team has won 13 of the 21 games it has played.

At the end of the 2022–23 Major League Soccer season, the Herons were the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference, just ahead of Toronto.
