As rumors regarding the future of the Liverpool attacker Ronald Araujo persist, Darwin Nunez was sighted with the star player from Barcelona.

Nunez deleted all of the football-related pictures from his Instagram account, leaving just pictures of his Uruguayan appearances and non-football-related ones. Additionally, he posted a story on Tuesday featuring himself and international teammate Araujo together with the phrase “Mi hermano” (‘My brother’).

The former Benfica striker, who has 11 league goals for Liverpool this season, has been linked to Barcelona. The fate of Robert Lewandowski, who has also been connected to a summer relocation outside of Catalunya, may determine the outcome of any move.

Nunez may have joined Liverpool for a club record amount plus add-ons, but it seems improbable that the club will profit from the signing. However, this hasn’t stopped a lot of fans from making predictions.

One Barcelona supporter posted on social media, “Swap deal [Vitor] Roque to Liverpool Darwin to Barcelona who says no?” Another added, “Nunez to Barca, here we go.”

However, others weren’t so certain. “His worldwide friend is that. One person responded, “All the players are off a few days,” suggesting that they saw it as just two close friends getting together.

Following this and [Luis] Suarez’s instruction to keep his head up. To be honest, I think it’s more likely that he’s not in the best of moods than that he’s trying to go to Barcelona,” said someone another.

Nunez has faced criticism in the past few weeks due to his decline in scoring ability. Following April’s Merseyside Derby loss, Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool defender, took a hard stance against the 24-year-old forward, who has gone eight games without scoring.

Carragher stated, “I think there is a question to ask [about selling him].” “You want him to succeed because there are so many things about him that you like—he gives it all, goes around and causes problems, occasionally scores a goal and provides an assist.

“But, you need your man to score away at Old Trafford, away at Goodison, and in the European game at Atalanta, because after two years, Liverpool is going to win the league this season and those huge games. This isn’t October or November, so there’s no time to waste. This concludes the business end.

“With regard to Nunez and the club’s future, we have all been on teams where a new player joins and you discuss his first season, saying things like, ‘He’s developing and he’s catching up, and he looked like he was at the beginning of the season. However, it has come to a stop.

“After two years, based on your assessment, I don’t believe he will have made significant progress. He is what we have witnessed over the past two years.

“He may be unpredictable in his finishing and a source of difficulty. I believe a significant choice on him needs to be taken in the summer because I don’t think it will be sufficient to bring home the largest trophies.”
