It was crazy what Antonio Rudiger did when Sergio Ramos slammed into him during Real Madrid’s La Liga game at Sevilla.
Ramos played against his old team for the first time since leaving Real Madrid for free in 2021.
After 37 years, the player’s career at Real was filled with awards and honors. He was a key part of Real’s four Champions League wins during that time.
But on Saturday night at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, the Spain center-back wasn’t thinking about the past. He was focused on getting his team further away from the La Liga relegation zone after a rough start to the season.
He got into a lot of fights early on because he started on the left side of central defense with Nemanja Gudelj, but he didn’t get a yellow card. People who wanted to see a fight, on the other hand, were not let down.
In the 42nd minute, Ramos faced off against Rudiger, who played for Real and was one of the players who mostly filled in for him when he arrived in the summer of 2022.
Both teams were very good at football, so it was a tough match. And there were sparks, but not in the way Ramos probably always expects when he talks to another player.
Many other players would have run away when they saw a furious Ramos coming at them over the years, but Rudiger didn’t.
Rudiger did something very few people would have dared to do after the Spanish man grabbed him by the mouth and pulled his shirt down. He laughed.
The verbal fight went on for a while longer, but the famous Real Madrid player finally left when Rudiger’s teammates stepped in.
The German won the mental game, and Ramos got a yellow card for a hit in the 77th minute ending the game.
That came three minutes after David Alaba scored an own goal to put Sevilla ahead. Four minutes later, Dani Carvajal scored a header to tie the game.
As discipline got worse in the second half, seven yellow cards were given out. Neither team could find the winning goal, though, and the game finished 1-1.
