Barcelona has found another great player at their famous La Masia school in Pau Cubarsi. The center-back is only 17 years old, but he is already a regular under Xavi. On Tuesday, in his first UEFA Champions League game, against Napoli, he was named Man of the Match.
The teenage defender is about to be called up to the Spanish national team for the first time, so it’s clear that his explosion has been noticed.
At the same time, teams from outside the area are beginning to look at the teenage star with admiration.
Arsenal, City, United, and Chelsea are all interested.
According to SPORT, as many as four big clubs in the Premier League are interested in Cubarsi. These are Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United.
Premier League clubs have been made aware that the 17-year-old’s current deal with Barcelona doesn’t have a release clause until 2026, but it does have a €10 million release option.
Reports say that Pep Guardiola, the boss of Manchester City, really likes him, and the club has already looked into him.
Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea are all keeping a close eye on him at the same time. The Blues have also been interested in Cubarsi before; they tried to sign him before his contract was renewed last year.
Cubarsi wants to live in Barcelona.
All of those teams will have a hard time signing Cubarsi, though, because he only wants to do well at Barcelona.
The 17-year-old is living out his dream right now by playing for the Catalans’ first team. Because of this, all he can think about is becoming an important part of the team he loves.
In addition, Barcelona has already told the player’s agents that they want to make his deal better.
The two sides understand each other well, so it shouldn’t be hard for them to come to a deal when they talk. Because of this, Cubarsi doesn’t think Barcelona should worry about anything, even though many top English teams are interested in him.
