Chelsea showed their inner Johnny Rotten when they released a bold new black third kit that was influenced by punk rock from the 1970s.
However, most fans love the shirt, and they did notice the strangely shaped Nike tick after Chelsea beat Wolves 6-2 in the Premier League on Sunday.
The dark grey and black shirt and shorts look great with the bright pink and yellow trim.
A special nod is also paid to the women’s game with a raised vertical Nike swoosh meant to show how far it has come.
The jersey also has a fabric with ripped-up punk designs that clash, but Stamford Bridge hasn’t announced a sponsor yet.
In other changes, the club’s traditional badge has been replaced by a lion that stands for Chelsea.
New signs for women For the promo shots, Lucy Bronze, Moises Caicedo, and Chelsea flop Mykhailo Mudryk were all there. Bronze also wore a punk scarf.
Chelsea said the kit is based on the “punk rock explosion” that began in Chelsea fifty years ago.
In a statement, the club said, “Born in Chelsea, punk was all about youth, breaking new ground, and being different from everyone else.” It’s a part of who we are “
The West London team’s first black shirt was worn as an away shirt in 2002–03. Since then, black has been a common color in their kits.
It was worn for the first time by Chelsea Women in a pre-season game against Arsenal in the US on Sunday.
Some fans dislike the shirt, and one of them said, “The Nike tick is drunk.”
Someone else wrote, “What the hell happened to that Nike logo?”
Before someone else said, “Did Nike get drunk while making this Chelsea third kit?” I don’t understand why the tick is straight.
But someone else on X said, “Damn Nike cooked.”
Five of them said, “This is unbelievable.” This year I like it better than our other kits.
The new home shirt made fans very angry when it came out in June.
The new home shirt has a blue base with swirls of lighter colors that are meant to look like an oil spill or paintbrush.
