It has been made clear to Barcelona what Atletico Madrid wants in exchange for attacker Joao Felix if they decide to sign him permanently.
During the summer transfer window, Barcelona signed the 24-year-old for the rest of the season after he came back to the club after a short time at Chelsea. Joao Felix made it clear that he wasn’t happy at Atletico Madrid. However, he did sign a one-year extension to his contract before he moved to Camp Nou, which meant that his parent club would still be able to get a good deal on him no matter what happened with the move.
Felix has played 14 times for Barcelona and has scored three goals and set up four more. He is having a great time there. About every 67 minutes he’s been on the field, he’s helped set up a goal.
Club Atleti has told Barcelona that they will have to pay around €70 million to keep the player on a regular basis. Given Barcelona’s recent financial problems, this amount may be too much for them to handle, but Diego Simeone’s team has every right to ask for it.
The FootballTransfers’ Player Valuation Model says that Joao Felix is worth €57m, but there is some room for error in the figure, so any amount up to €71m would be a fair price to pay for the player.
Joao Cancelo could be a good deal
Also, Barcelona has been told that they can keep Joao Cancelo, who is on loan from Manchester City, for €30 million.
The 29-year-old has scored two goals and set up another since joining Barcelona at the end of the summer. He is believed to be worth €36 million in a transfer. However, Cancelo’s value has been falling sharply for a number of years, and Barcelona is only likely to get a return on their investment in what he can do on the football field.
Still, the chance to get an experienced foreign player for less than what he’s worth on the market will be appealing.
