Barcelona wants to improve their defense next year, so they want to sign Lu̙as Ostermann from Red Bull Leipzig.

A recent story by Fichajes said that Barcelona wants to sign Red Bull Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann. There have been rumors that the Catalan club wants to get the German player for free.

This season, Ostermann will play an important role at the Red Bull arena.

As a result of several strong defensive games this season, Ùlostermann has been an important member of Leipzig’s matchday squad. That being said, the 27-year-old has played 13 times for the German club this season but has yet to score or set up a goal for them.

This German star has been a regular off the bench and has done a good job, making an average of 0.4 tackles and 1.9 clearances per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been good at passing the ball from inside his own half, making 90.2% of the passes he has tried in league football (stats from whoscored).

His current deal with the German club ends at the end of this season. So, it makes sense for Barcelona to try to get him for free next summer.

Should Barcelona go with Ölostermann?

At the back of the field, Klostermann is good at a lot of different things. He can handle the ball pretty well and time his tackles well to get the ball back for his team.

The German defensive star generally clears the danger when the other team is ahead, and he can also pass the ball very well. He usually plays right back, but if his boss asks, he can also play left back or in the middle of the defense.

We can expect Lukas Klostermann to give Barcelona head coach Xavi’s defense more bite and steel. He’s good enough to help the Catalan club do well in all kinds of games over the next few years.

Klostermann is about to hit his prime age of 27 and could be a good, cheap choice for Barcelona to look at at the end of this season. But he hasn’t shown what he’s made of outside of Spain yet, and he will need time to get used to life at the Nou Camp.
