As of late, Fichajes said that Barcelona is in the running to sign Lille talent Leny Yoro. It has been said that Barcelona will have to go up against Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Real Madrid to sign the French back.
The Great Rise of Yoro In the Ligue 1
Yoro has worked hard to become an important part of Lille’s first team after coming up through the club’s youth programs. The young French player has had a good season at the French club, hitting three goals in 18 games across all competitions.
The 18-year-old has been a strong defender inside his half, making an average of 1.5 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, and 3.2 clearances per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. His pass success rate of 91.3% in the top level of French football (stats from Whoscored) shows how good he is at passing the ball from the back.
In the summer of 2025, his deal with Lille will come to an end. So, when the transfer window opens again in January, it won’t be easy for Barcelona to get him for a low price.
Barcelona wants Yoro. Is he a good player for the future?
When the ball is in trouble, Yoro can quickly see it and get the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind getting rid of the threat when the other team is attacking, and he’s even good at making his way out from the back.
The French star, who is 1.90 meters tall, has a strong body that can help his team win a few 50-50 aerial battles. He is still pretty raw, though, and would need some time to get used to life at the Nou Camp if Barcelona wins the race for him next year.
You can already tell that Yoro is good enough to play in Xavi’s starting eleven every week. At age 18, he is a player to keep an eye on. He could help the Catalan club fight for many major titles over the next ten years. In the end, Xavi should think about doing everything he can to get Yoro to play football for Spain in 2024.
