Barcelona are now trying to sell £61m star Raphinha as Liverpool have missed out on a 2022 signing

Instead of waiting for the January transfer window to open, Barcelona has put Raphina on the market.

The Reds were said to want to sign Raphina when he was leaving Leeds United in the summer of 2022. But the Brazilian was set on joining Barcelona, and he did in the end.

Rapina has had a rough time in Spain since she was ten years old. Even though he was a regular starter, Football Transfers say the 26-year-old has “failed to have the desired impact.”

Because of this, they say Barcelona is now “keen on casing in” on the former Leeds player in order to raise money.

It is said that the Spanish giants have been trying to sell Rapina since January 2023. The price that was being asked was said to be around £87m, but no one was interested. Now, because Barcelona is desperate to get money, it is said that they will give less and take £61m for the Brazil international.

At that price, there are said to be several buyers interested. Liverpool isn’t named as one of them yet, which is a shame. The teams that look like they have the best chances are Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United. But Rafael is said to not want to leave the Camp Nou.

Rafael was put up for sale by Barcelona.

If this story is true, you should really feel bad for Rapina. Last year, he turned down several Premier League teams that wanted to sign him in order to follow his dream and join Barcelona.

But, as they have done several times lately, Barcelona has been very mean in response.

It’s not that poor Rapina has been for them, either. It wasn’t as many as Robert Lewandowski, who arrived at the same time, but he scored ten goals last season and three so far this season.

Maybe not what Barcelona was hoping for, but he’s still a really great player.

Still, if they really want to sign the former Leeds player, they might have to lower their price tag again. Even though his play hasn’t been bad, it’s not what you’d expect from a £61m player.

Rapin’ Mama isn’t a child anymore; her 27th birthday is coming up. People will expect me to be a key player wherever I go if I do decide to leave.

At this point, there’s no sign that it could be to Liverpool. But because he was seen as a possible Mohamed Salah replacement 18 months ago, we still think that he could be.

The Reds could do a lot worse than Rapina if Sala decides to leave Liverpool next summer. No big deals coming up right now, but we should keep an eye on how this one develops.
