Barcelona is having a good time with a special shirt against Real Madrid that has the Rolling Stones’ famous logo on it.
As of now, the Spanish giants can’t be Nou Camp rock stars because their famous venue is being fixed up. But they’ve come up with the next best thing as their partnership with Spotify hits a high note.
Stones legends Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood wore the special shirt with the band’s cheeky logo. It wasn’t so much tongue in cheek as tongue on kit.
In honor of El Clasico, which will be played on October 28 at Barça’s temporary Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, the home team’s shirt will have a big lip with a tongue poking out.
Xavi’s men will be promoting the Stones’ new record as part of the club’s deal with the streaming service Spotify.
In fact, it’s the first new music from the British band since 2005.
“We’re huge football fans, and it’s an honor that Spotify brought our Tongue & Lips logo to the FC Barcelona shirt to celebrate the Stones’ new album ‘Hackney Diamonds’,” the band said.
“We’ll be cheering on the players on the pitch as well as fans around the world who will be tuning in to watch this iconic match.”
Fans will be glued to their screens as third-placed Barcelona tries to catch La Liga leaders Real.
Fans of Barcelona will also hope that goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has Sticky Fingers so that he can keep out Madrid’s star summer signing Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, and the rest of the team.
As Jagger might say, looking at The Beatles, the Stones’ most famous rivals: “Hey Jude, don’t make it bad.”
No matter what happens, people who watch El Clasico will hope to be as excited as Barcelona’s one-of-a-kind logo.
