The future of Sergi Roberto at Barcelona remains uncertain. There is currently no solid information regarding the club captain’s contract, which expires at the end of the current campaign.

But according to rumors, Barcelona and Roberto’s agent are going to have a meeting. The meeting’s agenda item would be to talk about the player’s future. 

His recent performances have made the club rethink their initial plans not to extend his contract. It was said up until yesterday that Roberto’s destiny would be decided solely by the new coach, but it doesn’t appear to be the case any longer.

Roberto has made everything better.

As previously stated, there is presently no agreement in place for Roberto to remain on, and his contract is scheduled to end in the summer. As a result, his future is uncertain. 

Although the Blaugrana club’s board initially had no intention of extending his contract, the player’s outstanding play has been acknowledged. It has now been disclosed that Barcelona and the Spaniard’s agent will meet shortly to make a final decision on what to do next.

For Barcelona, Roberto is more than just a footballer.

Roberto is more than just an athlete in the Barcelona locker room. The seasoned defender has been agreeing to short-term, low-paying contracts, which has helped to down the first team’s wage costs. 

And he’s willing to keep this deal with Barcelona going even after that. The sports management of the team is also happy with Roberto’s leadership as captain and the important playing time he contributes on the field.

However, he is actively helping younger players adjust to the team chemistry, namely Pau Cubarsi and Hector Fort. As of right now, there isn’t a formal proposition on the table, so the only thing that will decide if he stays for the entire season is the scheduled meeting.
