It’s no secret at this point that Barcelona will look for a new defensive midfielder during the summer months.

The Catalan giants feel the need to strengthen the position even though Oriol Romeu joined last summer. This is especially true since the experienced Spaniard’s form has already dropped a lot.

Because of this, the athletics staff is already looking at a number of candidates for the job. Wilfred Ndidi, Gabriel Moscardo, and Arthur Vermeeren are just a few of the names that are being watched.

Barça is also planning to meet Florentino Luis.

Now, SpOrT says that Barcelona is also interested in Florentino Luis, a strong midfielder for SL Benfica.

The 24-year-old Portuguese star is highly regarded in his home country, and a number of top teams were impressed by how well he played in midfield in the UEFA Champions League last season.

Barça has also noticed how good the defensive player is and is considering signing him in the summer of 2024.

Florentino Luis wasn’t having the best start to the season and was having a hard time getting minutes. These past few weeks, though, he’s become more important at Benfica, which could make a move harder.

The story also says that Florentino Luis’s deal with Benfica has a huge release clause worth €120 million. The deal lasts until the summer of 2027.

That being said, Barcelona thinks they can talk the Portuguese giants down on the price and get the 24-year-old for about €40 million.

But Benfica is known for getting a lot of money for their players, and Barcelona’s current financial situation makes it hard to make a move for Florentino Luis.
