Mason Greenwood, a forward for Manchester United, is supposedly a target for Barcelona in 2024.
The 22-year-old moved to Getafe on loan for the season after the 20-time English champions warned him over the summer that he had no future at Old Trafford.
With 13 games in all competitions, including two goals and three assists in La Liga, Greenwood has been in outstanding form for the capital team.
Real Sociedad and Valencia are rumored to be interested in signing the attacker permanently, and Getafe’s president has stated that his goal is to do so next year.
Barcelona is reportedly closely monitoring the issue and has sent scouts to observe him in action throughout the 2023–24 season, according to talkSPORT.
Atletico Madrid is reportedly keeping an eye on the situation as well, given that Man United is expected to allow him to depart permanently at the end of the current campaign.
It’s thought that the Red Devils first decided to bring him back, but they later decided against it in response to the public outcry.
Recent rumors have suggested that Greenwood would return to Man United’s starting lineup, although given the delicate nature of the situation, this is still regarded as extremely unlikely.
In 129 appearances for Man United in all competitions, the attacker has tallied 35 goals and provided 12 assists. He is under contract with Erik ten Hag’s team until June 2025.
It is also believed that several Premier League teams are closely monitoring the situation; nonetheless, it would come as a great surprise if he signed with another English team.
Greenwood scored 17 goals for the Red Devils in the 2019–20 season. Prior to receiving a club suspension, he scored six goals in the first half of the 2021–22 campaign.
