Thomas Partey of Arsenal is one of Barcelona’s main targets during the summer transfer window as the Catalan team searches for inexpensive players to bolster their roster. 

Adrian Sanchez claims that Barcelona may try to take advantage of the Ghanaian player’s 2025 contract expiration at the Emirates Stadium during the summer.

The 30-year-old midfielder has become a key target for the Catalan club, who will be looking to get him for a very cheap sum. The La Liga team is still facing significant financial difficulties, and they plan to impose further spending caps on the Spanish powerhouses in the forthcoming transfer window.

Given that Partey apparently desired to leave the Gunners before the winter transfer window opened due to interest from Juventus, Arsenal is probably willing to move the player this summer.

It is unclear if Barcelona will formally pursue the Ghanaian player in the upcoming months, but it doesn’t appear that the midfield player will soon sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Partey joined Arsenal in 2020 and has since played in 112 Premier League games for the team. The midfield player had his best season in North London last year, helping the Gunners win the Premier League title.

On the other hand, the 30-year-old has been injured and has missed the majority of the current campaign.

Despite playing in just 13 games for Mikel Arteta, the former star of Atletico Madrid has started the last two matches against Chelsea and Tottenham.

Partey is still a talented player, but with Jorginho expected to sign a new contract with Arsenal, the Ghanaian international is not really needed—especially if the North London team wants to add a new midfield player before the 2024–2025 season begins.
