Barcelona is planning for the summer, with President Joan Laporta and Director Deco both occupied with a variety of tasks as the transfer window approaches.

We revealed earlier today that Pini Zahavi, the representative of Robert Lewandowski and manager Hansi Flick, had a meeting with the president of Barcelona.

Laporta just held a meeting with another agency, indicating that he has been fairly busy.

Following an injury that kept him out of action for most of the previous season, the Liverpool winger is recovering well. Under Jurgen Klopp, he is now a reliable starter, having contributed five assists and eleven goals.

Before moving to Liverpool, Diaz was under Laporta’s attention, and based on their dinner, it seems the president of Barça has not forgotten about the Colombian international.

Move impractical

According to the article, Laporta is said to have inquired about the approximate amounts needed for Diaz to go from Liverpool to Barcelona.

The agency is said to have responded with a staggering amount, estimated to be valued between €120 and €140 million. The number is not surprising considering his prominent position in Liverpool’s initiative and the length of his contract, which expires in 2027.

Reaching such a figure is unattainable given Barcelona’s financial demands, and Laporta informed Diaz’s agency of this. The president of Barça is said to have said, “It is not feasible.”

As previously stated, Diaz was also a target for Barça and Laporta when he was at FC Porto. But at the time they made their offer, the player was already in advanced negotiations with Liverpool, as the club president had disclosed back in November 2022.

There wasn’t an option. The president stated, “He was a player who interested us when we arrived, but Liverpool already had very advanced negotiations with Porto.”

It is now possible to rule out Diaz making a move this summer considering the figures that are probably involved.
