Paulo Dybala is the only player in the Adidas lineup with more COPA experience than Joao Felix. Felix has been given the most recent iteration of the silo to test out in training, providing us with an even closer look at what’s to come. The Argentine has already gotten his hands on the next-generation COPA, giving us our first look at the prototype. Details of what appears to be a new soleplate are also revealed, along with more details from the upper.

There is no reason to anticipate that the COPA will become unavailable with the release of the next generation, given it is already available in both laceless (+) and laced (.1) variations. Joao Felix once again chose the laceless prototype when putting them through their paces in training, so we haven’t had a clear glimpse of the laced version. Then, we get a closer look at that drastically altered top with its brand-new wavy design.

Those waves appear to fit the foot’s contours far more precisely, raising the prospect of a more date-driven fit. Additionally, the collar appears to have undergone extensive shaping around the ankle, which is probably going to enhance the boot’s overall fit and comfort.

Another thing this glimpse provides is our first view of the boot’s underside (see the top image). It also appears that the soleplate has been redesigned, with a more streamlined appearance and a slightly different stud arrangement. Everything changed for the COPA, and as the release date approaches, we’ll probably see more of these.
