Jude Bellingham has had a great start to his time at Real Madrid. After moving from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, the English player has scored 13 goals this season, with 10 of them coming in La Liga.
His 10 goals put him ahead of everyone else in the race for the Pichichi Award. Eighth-placed Gerard Moreno and eighth-placed Antoine Griezmann are two points behind him. Robert Lewandowski, who won the award in his first season in Spain last year, is three points ahead of him.
In spite of Bellingham’s strong start, Lewandowski told Marca that he believes he can beat the Real Madrid star and win his second Pichichi award in a row.
“The season lasts a long time. Bellingham is a great player. Many teams in La Liga play in a defensive and tough way, which makes it hard to score a lot of goals these days.
“But we are Barcelona.” We want to score a lot of goals, not just win.
Lewandowski will hope that he can get Barcelona back on track over the next few weeks after a bad run of form. The first game in this quest is this Saturday’s trip to Rayo Vallecano.
