Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal became the best dribbler in European U-23, according to CIES data

For the current season at Barcelona, Xavi has a lot of different ways to fight. At this point, Robert Lewandowski may be the only sure thing to start, but each of the wingers has done their part this season.

Lamine Yamal is the one who caught me off guard the most. When the Spanish player first joined the Catalan first team as a youngster, not many people thought much of him.

In a short time, he has become a unique weapon for the manager. The only thing that keeps him from getting a normal starting spot is his young age.

16th place in the pack

The CIES Football Observatory, a group that specializes in looking at and verifying data, says that Yamal is the best dribbler in Europe’s top five teams under the age of 23.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Napoli, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, and Takefusa Kubo of Real Sociedad are some of the other names on the list.

This season in La Liga, the young player who is learning under Barcelona has done an amazing 56 dribbles, and he does an average of six dribbles every 90 minutes. Notably, he has scored a goal and set up another one in the league. Barcelona is building their team around a group of young players, with Pedri, Gavi, and Ronald Araujo acting as the team’s “nidus.” But they haven’t been good at keeping track of the player’s game time.

Barcelona has used young players a lot in recent years because they count so much on young players. Pedri is now hurting himself over and over again because of it, and his countryman Gavi also felt very tired earlier this year.

Xavi is being more careful with Yamal because of this. In order to keep him from getting hurt, the boss wants to slowly bring him into the senior team without putting too much stress on his growing body.
