However, not everything went well for Real Madrid, as important player Dani Carvajal sustained an injury.

Carvajal is questionable for Real Betis’ matchup.

Carvajal sustained a calf injury during the Granada game. He was limited to the first half of the game, and at halftime, Lucas Vazquez took his place.

Melchor Ruiz reports that Carvajal is a serious doubt for the match against Real Betis due to his injury, which occurred shortly before the match.

Carvajal is currently experiencing pain in his left soleus. On Monday, he will have tests done to ascertain the severity of the defender’s injuries.

Who will take Carvajal’s place?

Given Carvajal’s importance in the squad, Real Madrid is unlikely to take any chances, even if the injury is slight.

As a result, it appears that the Spaniard will not be able to attend the Real Betis match, which will force Carlo Ancelotti to find a replacement.

Right now, Ancelotti seems to think that Lucas Vazquez is the best prospect to take Carvajal’s spot at right back.

Vazquez can give breadth moving forward and can provide crosses into the box, so he’s not a horrible choice. He has a great deal of experience playing that position as well.

Carvajal’s injury, though, serves as yet another reminder for Real Madrid that, in order to win the title, the team needs to add more fullbacks in January.
