Tuesday night in the EFL Cup, Manchester United beat Barnsley 7-0. Barnsley is in League One.
The home team did a great job striking as Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Christian Eriksen all scored twice at Old Trafford.
Antony, who has been criticized a lot, scored a penalty in the first half.
Even though all of United’s players played well, Garnacho was likely the best of the bunch.
The Argentinean player scored two goals and set up two others. He rightly got the best rating from the national media.
During the game, the 20-year-old made three important passes, threw three long balls, and had three great chances.
It looked like Garnacho was very happy with the win because he later wrote on Instagram, “What a night at Old Trafford!”
Bruno Fernandes, his captain, responded to his post: “What a player.” Fernandes wasn’t in the starting lineup but came on for the last 30 minutes against Barnsley.
It was hard for Manchester United to believe in themselves after losing badly to Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool.
As a result, they have made a big comeback since the international break. After beating Southampton easily, they destroyed Barnsley 7-0 on Tuesday.
Erik ten Hag’s team will play again in the Premier League on Saturday when they go to Crystal Palace.
As of now, the Eagles haven’t won a league game, which doesn’t show much promise.
At home against South London this weekend, United has a great chance to keep their winning streak going.
