behind Real Madrid defeated Leganes 3-0, Carlo Ancelotti, the team’s head coach, ridiculed Fede Valverde, claiming that he is “the best right back in the world” behind Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez.
The Uruguayan had to fill in at Butarque on Sunday due to injuries to the other players listed.
Vazquez was predicted to be out for another two weeks or so after a knock he received during last time out’s 4-0 thumping of Osasuna, where Ancelotti lost three men in the first half alone. Carvajal is anticipated to miss the remainder of the season due to an ACL tear.
Los Blancos concluded the weekend with victories in their final two games. If Barcelona also wins its postponed match against Valencia, they will be in a strong position to reduce FC Barcelona’s lead to just one point.
Madrid’s second goal came from a well-placed free kick strike by Valverde. Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe had already scored.
After the match, Ancelotti commended Valverde and rookie center-back Raul Asencio, telling his defense that they performed “very well at the back.”
“The rear of us performed admirably. Ancelotti laughed as he remarked, “Valverde is a great full-back.” Asencio performed brilliantly and maturely, taking the game very seriously.
“After Carvajal and Lucas, the world’s best fullback.” The coach finds it challenging to choose the optimum position for the team because he can play this style in many different areas of the field. The Italian remarked, “He is incredibly quick.” The availability of Vazquez and Aurelien Tchouameni for next week’s Champions League showdown against Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield is still up in the air. Valverde may therefore start at right back.
“I need to give this some thought,” Ancelotti remarked. Because [Eduardo] Camavinga is playing at his peak, [Dani] Ceballos has had a fantastic game, and [Luka] Modric consistently performs well, it’s simple for us to protect the middle. When I can rewatch the entire game and try to get someone back for Wednesday, I’ll have to make these selections.
At Leganes, Ancelotti was pleased with his team’s overall performance and its “becoming more compact and focused.”
Things are going great, he said with a smile. “Everyone does their part, which is why the team performs well.” Ceballos has had a significant impact in the center. In the last third, Arda Guler was incredibly inventive and nearly scored. He played the entire game as well.
“They are players we can rely on right now because we need everyone and the demand for the matches is very high,” Ancelotti stated.
