Manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that Kylian Mbappe is the main reason why Real Madrid is having so much trouble right now.
The French player was hailed as Madrid’s biggest summer signing after he refused to stay at PSG longer and signed with the defending Champions League winners as a free agent.
It hasn’t been easy for the famous striker to live in Madrid, though. He moved there at the same time that Madrid was having a hard time defending their La Liga and European titles.
Barcelona recently beat Real Madrid 4-0 in El Clasico to take a nine-point lead over their rival. Mbappe’s finishing and habit to go offside during the game annoyed Real Madrid fans.
Because he likes to play as a central striker, Jude Bellingham has been pushed lower into midfield, and the Englishman has yet to score this season after a big season at the Santiago Bernabeu last year.
Ancelotti has said before that he wants more from Mbappe, but now, according to Relevo, he is blaming the 25-year-old for not being able to help the team when they don’t have the ball.
It is said that Mbappe has been named the team’s biggest problem because he doesn’t put in enough effort when running. For example, the World Cup winner only went 8 km during Real Madrid’s embarrassing loss in El Clasico.
Because the star wouldn’t help his teammates get the ball back, Madrid’s defense is now less balanced, leaving them more open to counterattacks.
Club leaders still don’t think they made the right choice when they brought Mbappe to Madrid, even though he has only scored eight goals in 14 games across all categories.
Meanwhile, PSG is doing great without Mbappe. They are currently on top of Ligue 1 and have put together better team efforts since the Frenchman left in a bad situation.
Arsenal and Les Blues great Thierry Henry recently said that the French giants have gotten better without Mbappe, who was the team’s leader before.
“They’re a little more stable and have fewer counters.” He told CBS Sports, “But they still lost Mbappe.”
