Chaos when arriving at Roma: Romelu Lukaku trained with Roma for the first time in a new kit after being loaned £5 million by Chelsea, fans ‘climbed on car roofs’ to compete for the former Man Utd star

Romelu Lukaku has started working right away instead of waiting for his introduction to the Roma supporters.

The Belgian striker is expected to sign in Rome after Chelsea agreed to a £5 million loan deal for him.

Lukaku and Jose Mourinho, who previously worked together at Chelsea and Manchester United, will be working together once again at Roma.

Since then, the Italian powerhouses have finished their final preparations for his significant debut and he has been spotted in full Roma gear during a first-team practice.

The 30-year-old is under a lot of pressure to bounce back after a difficult year in which he failed to score at the World Cup in Qatar and struggled to secure a starting position at Inter Milan the previous year.

When Lukaku’s private plane touched down at Rome’s Ciampino Airport on Tuesday afternoon, he was met by cheering supporters.

The forward waved to the fans as he down the stairs wearing a black shirt and black jeans.

When he stepped off the plane at the city’s secondary airport, the crowd erupted in applause, and he waved and patted his chest in response.

While being escorted by security and Roma officials through the exterior secured areas of the airport, Lukaku engaged in conversation with supporters while plainly having a good time.

In the footage, fans can be heard shouting the striker’s name, and he can be seen grinning and giving the crowd the thumbs up.

The Chelsea player was so excited to get out that he even held a Roma scarf over his head in anticipation of his upcoming transfer.

Romelu Lukaku never had a chance to return to Stamford Bridge this summer as Chelsea and Manchester City agreed to a £45 million transfer deal for him.

Mourinho provides some justifications for why Chelsea and Lukaku’s partnership hasn’t worked out.

When he initially played for Chelsea, he was a child. He spent his time at Manchester United developing as a footballer. He became well-known at Inter, as Mourinho told The Times the year before.

He won over the hearts of the crowd, his teammates, and the coach, and all three things happened simultaneously.

Within this big, muscular man still dwells a child that wants love, support, and to feel respected.
