This game shows that Wayne Rooney is still very good and why he is still Manchester United’s all-time top scorer.

The former Premier League star scored a spectacular free kick today at Old Trafford in the game between Manchester United and Celtic giants.

The bending shot shocked Boruc in goal, who couldn’t do anything as the shot went right past him and into the top left corner.

The 25-yard strike from the boss of Plymouth has put the Red Devils ahead in the star-studded exhibition game.

Rooney, who is 38 years old, had a great career. He scored a record 253 goals for United in 559 games. 

The famed Old Trafford player moved from Everton to Manchester United in 2004, and the rest is history.

There were five league wins, an FA Cup, three League Cups, the Champions League in 2008, the Europa League, and a Club World Cup for United under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Rooney then spent 13 years with United, where he played for the Red Devils for most of his career. 

In 2017, he left the club to play for Everton again, the team he had played for as a child. He stayed there for one season before going to another club.

The next year, he joined the American team DC United, and he finished his career with Derby County.

That being said, Rooney did say before today’s game that he would have liked to play for the Scottish team.

The player told Celtic’s club media, “I’ve always liked Celtic and wanted them to win.”

“Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to play for Celtic.” I wish I could have.

“But I didn’t work out, so I missed that chance.”
