There was a new Manchester United Foundation Dream Day, and manager Erik ten Hag and his first-team players made memories with fans.
Many of the players—some of whom just got back from international duty—made fans’ dreams come true at Carrington who are sick with dangerous illnesses that will end their lives soon.
The heartwarming day happens twice a season. At the most recent event, football fans from all over the UK and Ireland met their stars and watched the first team train. Fans also got to meet United great Wes Brown, who greeted them and gave them goodies and flags to get them ready for the event.
Ten Hag said, “It was great to have our fans come to Carrington to view training and meet the team as part of this unique Dream Day event.” From a personal point of view, I’ve loved going.
“Taking time to talk to families has been very helpful for both the players and me.” Spending time with our friends is very important, especially when they are having a hard time. It’s worth it to do something small to make them smile.
Seeing how the players and fans connect and feel together has been great, and it sums up what Manchester United is all about.
During his first time at the club, Jonny Evans took part in a number of Dream Days, so he was thrilled to be back for such an important event.
“I can’t believe what the Foundation does,” he said. As a child, I was always taught how important the people are during my time here. It’s always been a big part of this club.
Corey, a 26-year-old fan who went to the event, said, “We came to watch the team train, meet the players, and just hang out here, it’s been great.” As a child, I watched United games, and so did my boys. Now we’re all United fans. It’s a dream come true that they put this on.”
