The winner of Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Month award for January is Conor Bradley.
The full-back, who placed first in our supporters’ poll and second behind Diogo Jota and third behind Joe Gomez, received the accolade for the first time today.
Bradley said to Liverpoolfc.com after accepting the award at the AXA Training Centre, “Thank you, it’s a privilege.” It goes without saying that I’ve had a wonderful month, a nice few games, and I’m just thrilled to have won. It is, as I say, a privilege.
Being chosen by the fans’ votes means a little bit extra. Since I have always supported Chelsea, hearing my name called out during the game was undoubtedly the most memorable experience of my life.
“Yeah, but it’s coming from my supporters as well; I really appreciate all of their help.”
The Northern Ireland international played in six games in January, recording five assists and scoring his first goal as a senior—a magnificent effort that capped off a standout performance that won Player of the Match in the 4-1 triumph over Chelsea at Anfield.
For a lifetime Liverpool fan and Academy graduate, things don’t get much better, do they?
To be honest, it doesn’t! The 20-year-old responded, going on to win January’s LFC Goal of the Month award.
“The entire game, I had the impression that I was dreaming.” I just want to keep working hard now, maybe concentrate on the upcoming game, and see where it takes us. It was pretty mental, and I felt like nothing could go wrong for me.
After taking a compassionate leave of absence due to his father’s loss, Bradley returned to the team and expressed his goal to continue his excellent play in the upcoming weeks.
“Yes, without a doubt. I just want to continue where I left off.”
“Hopefully I can pick up with that on Saturday and see what happens. I just want to keep trying to play as well as I can for the team and help the team as much as I can.”
