Marcus Rashford was told by Erik TEN HAG to get ready for talks about his bad form.
On top of that, the Manchester United striker’s body language was criticized after a terrible game against Newcastle.
Rashford barely touched the ball and didn’t even get a shot off as United lost 1-0 at St. James’ Park on Saturday.
In every part of the field, the Red Devils were second best.
But they were especially bad up top, where Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford failed to keep the pressure on Newcastle’s roaming defenders.
When Martial talked back to Ten Hag about being criticized by his boss, they got into a screaming match on the field.
And both men were sacked off the field just after the hour mark after Anthony Gordon scored and put United behind.
But Rashford got the most criticism for how he played. Both experts and fans were unhappy with it.
Many people pointed out how often he failed to track back, letting Gordon and Tino Livramento cause United trouble down Newcastle’s left side.
Ten Hag promised to talk to the striker about his play behind closed doors, telling TNT Sports, “I will talk to him and not the media.”I know this problem will come up, and Marcus is putting a lot of work into it. He will get back to his old self because we back him up.
“I’ll say it again: he works hard and puts a lot of money into it. He will get back on track, and we will all support him.”
“I’m not going to talk about individual performances.”
A sports expert on TNT It was clear that Jemaine Jenas didn’t like Rashford.
His words were, “I think it was bad, I do. I think his body language was shocking the whole game.”
“There have been too many times like this,” he said, flailing his arms around.
“He’s probably telling his manager something like, ‘I don’t want to play out here.'”
The player is looking at Alejandro Garnacho on the left, and it’s wrong to put that much pressure on your team by not doing your job as a wide player and tracking back.
“It’s also clear that [Tino] Livramento knows he doesn’t want to go with him.” He’s never there, and it happens over and over.
“He doesn’t want to find him, and [Harry] Maguire and [Luke] Shaw are always saving the day because the wide players aren’t doing their jobs.”
Football great Paul Scholes also said that Rashford is “doing more harm than good.”
When Scholes saw that the England player didn’t seem pleased after being taken off, he asked, “What is he surprised about?” I don’t understand.
“Why does he think he needs to be on the field still?” He was making things worse for the team.
He also told Premier League productions, “Marcus was great last year, and there’s no doubt about it: he has talent.”
“But I don’t think it’s good for the team when you decide to walk back like you did and he acts that way,”
“And he’s now one of the most skilled players. People in the game look up to him. He looks up to [Kobbie] Mainoo. It makes Garnacho look up to him.
Scholes was angry about United’s play as a whole and said, “Rubbish.” Right now, they don’t have a good sports team, do they?
