Footage of Bruno Fernandes’ reaction to Manchester United’s defeat to Copenhagen on Wednesday night has emerged.
Erik ten Hag’s team lost a thrilling seven-goal match in Copenhagen, sending Man United to the bottom of their group and facing a struggle to even make it to the Europa League knockout stages.
Rasmus Hojlund’s brace put the Red Devils ahead by two goals at the half, and Marcus Rashford’s controversial dismissal for scuffing Elias Jelert’s ankle sealed the victory.
Then, after Harry Maguire handled the ball in the box, Diogo Goncalves’ penalty and Mohamed Elyounoussi’s goal gave Copenhagen two goals in quick succession to tie the score at halftime.
Bruno Fernandes then restored United’s lead with a penalty of their own before the Danish outfit capitalised one on the extra man advantage as goals from Lukas Lerager and Roony Bardghji sent Ten Hag’s side to fourth.
After the game, Fernandes was spotted on the stairs with his head in his hands, painting a sombre picture and emphasising just how poor United’s season has been so far.
They now need to win against Galatasaray in Istanbul to stay in contention to qualify for the knockout stages.
Fernandes and co return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Luton Town at Old Trafford.
