The Real Madrid derby game was halted for around 20 minutes due to disturbances.
Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, stated on Sunday that both players and spectators who threw things onto the pitch during their derby against Real Madrid and caused a more than 20-minute delay should face consequences.
Atletico ultras Fondo Sur, who are seated in the lower south bleachers, tossed objects towards visiting keeper Thibaut Courtois, causing the referee to become alert and decide to temporarily halt the match while Real players celebrated Eder Militao’s opening goal in the 64th minute.
The game concluded in a 1-1 draw after the delay, with Angel Correa tying the score deep into added time.
“In my opinion, the club ought to impose sanctions on those who have committed incidents. These are not individuals we need. The folks who travel with and assist us are essential. Simeone warned Dazn, “They hurt the club, but be careful—that does not justify creating situations that we, the protagonists, create.”“We must all pitch in. It’s not right, those who threw those lighters. However, it could not be helpful if we, the protagonists, belittle, accuse, or agitate others, causing them to become enraged.
People can only celebrate a goal by celebrating it, but not by staring at the stands, charging against the stands, or making gestures—those actions will only make people angry. Nevertheless, we also need to try to remain composed and understand the circumstances.
Naturally, it isn’t justifiable, but neither was the original action, as a result of which we will continue to be victims. Both the one who tosses the cigarette lighter and the person who provokes should face consequences. As a result, there won’t be any more laughing or similar behaviour because you are free to engage in activities without facing consequences.

Early on Monday morning, Atletico Madrid issued a formal statement stating that they had already identified one of the supporters who had thrown objects into the pitch and that they were collaborating with the authorities to find the other supporters who would face disciplinary action.
“Atletico de Madrid would like to voice their disapproval of the objects that were thrown from a portion of the south stand during the match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in the 68th minute. The club released a statement saying that its security division and the police have been collaborating to find the individuals responsible, one of whom has already been identified.
“The club will subject the individuals engaged in this incident to the internal protocol intended for extremely serious cases. These kinds of actions have no place in football and damage the reputation of a stadium that has hosted over 70,000 spectators in the stands, the great majority of whom have behaved admirably.
