As the deal to move to Manchester United gets closer, Joshua Zirkzee put out a message.

After talks between the clubs and the player went well, Zirkzee is now set to become the first player signed by the Ineos this summer. He was given permission to fly into the UK on Thursday night. He is going to get medical care on Friday.

MEN Sport has learned that Zirkzee’s Bologna contract had a £34 million (€40 million) release clause, but United have decided to pay £36 million (€42.5 million). These bills will be paid over three years. United would have had to pay the full amount of the forward’s release option if they had chosen to use it. Zirkzee is going to sign a deal that will keep him with the team until 2029, with at least one more season possible.

After Anthony Martial left when his contract expired, the club made it a priority to bring in a forward this summer. Rasmus Hojlund was the only known striker at the time.
