Following training, William Funnell, nine, and his cousins Albert, six, and Toby Witherden, ten, met Mac Allister.

He pulled over and signed a World Cup ball and autograph books that were their Christmas gifts.

“The boys got autograph books from their great grandma for Christmas so we thought we would go and get some signatures,” Simon, William’s dad, said.

“We couldn’t believe our luck when we found out Mac Allister was back.”

The group wished Mac Allister well on his World Cup victory.

“Yes I do-would you like to see it?” was his response when Simon asked if he had his medal on him.

After searching through his backpack in the rear seat of his automobile, Mac Allister removed his medal.

Mac Allister even allowed the boys to hold it and take a picture with it since they were “overjoyed” with it.

“The boys were absolutely shocked and star struck,” Simon continued.
