Football fans with sharp eyes saw a play on Sunday that could have led to Andre Onana being sent off for Manchester United against Liverpool.
Liverpool was getting ready to take a corner kick when captain Virgil van Dijk moved to the goal line next to Onana.
The Dutch player seemed to hit him on the arm, but the custodian hit him in the gut with an elbow.
In reaction, Van Dijk dramatically grabbed his midsection and then laughed at Onana.
Some fans, though, think he easily could have had the custodian sent off after what they did.
“Virgil van Dijk probably thought Onana would be better on the pitch than getting sent off,” someone wrote on X.
Someone said: “If it was United’s player, he would have fallen down and be crying for foul.”
A third joked, “Onana getting sent off is good for United, tbh.” “I would have stayed on my feet too.”
After that, Liverpool beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.
He scored twice in the first half to put his team ahead.
