Toni Kroos, a midfielder for Real Madrid, has harshly criticized Gabri Veiga’s anticipated transfer to the Saudi Pro League as “embarrassing.”

Wonderkid of Celta Vigo This summer, Veiga attracted attention from big-name teams, with reports suggesting that Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea closely watched him.

Napoli of Serie A initially appeared to have won the race, but earlier this week, reports suggested that the contract was in danger of failing.

Veiga, 21, choosing Al-Ahli has revealed the cause of the standoff. 

The playmaker was the club’s top secret goal in this window, according to Fabrizio Romano, and the transfer is close to being finalized.

Kroos took to social media to air his thoughts on the switch and did not pull his punches

Kroos, however, has taken exception to Veiga’s shock decision to quit LaLiga for the kingdom’s riches and aimed a dig at him on social media.

Al-Ahli, based in Jeddah, have been one of the most active Saudi clubs in the market, having lured the likes of Roberto Firmino, Edouard Mendy, Allan Saint-Maximin and Franck Kessie. Their capture of Veiga, though, is especially eye-catching.

A host of players have been convinced to move over from Europe this summer, with a staggering recruitment drive fuelled by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

Veiga has emerged as one of the continent’s brightest talents after a superb season last time out and has also become a regular performer for Spain’s U21s.

He scored 11 goals in 36 LaLiga appearances last campaign and laid on four assists.

This season, he was introduced off the bench for Celta’s first match but found himself an unused substitute for the draw with Real Sociedad last weekend. 

Veiga was coveted by several Premier League sides including Manchester City and Chelsea

Numerous famous people have joined Cristiano Ronaldo in the kingdom after he relocated there to join Al-Nassr.

Veiga was also said to be interested in Manchester United and Newcastle, and Celta president Carlos Mourino openly acknowledged in March that he had no control over Veiga’s departure.

“They are going to buy Gabri Veiga from us even though we don’t want to sell him,” we said. And there is nothing we can do,” Mourino remarked.

‘Gabri is supported by a number of teams. Four of the top ten teams in the Premier League have inquired about him.

Notably, despite all being in their 30s, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Sadio Mane, and Riyad Mahrez are among those who have embraced new challenges in Saudi Arabia. The promising Veiga, on the other hand, just recently turned 21.

Karim Benzema also made the transfer to Al-Ittihad, although he may already be leaving after a disagreement with the manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
