The goal that won his team the championship in Brazil’s top division was scored by the future forward for Real Madrid.
The king of Brazil is new. As one of the team’s primary strikers, Endrick proved his usefulness on the last day of the Brazilian championship, helping Palmeiras win their second straight Brasileirao.
With 11 goals to Neymar’s 10 as the 17-year-old with the most goals in a single season, the youthful striker opened the score halfway through the first half to give Verdão a hand on the trophy. Observing the game from the grandstand, Ronaldo Nazário still holds the record with twelve.
Endrick scored his fifth goal in his previous seven games in what might be Abel Ferreira’s final game behind the Palmeiras bench. Following his impressive display against Botafogo, he has been hitting goals nonstop, and the Portuguese coach’s assurance will be essential in bringing out the most in Real Madrid’s upcoming star.
Palmeiras of Endrick are too strong for Botafogo.
The Brazilian, who has appeared in over 50 Palmeiras games and was recently called up to the Brazil national team, had two nearly identical opportunities that were denied by Cruzeiro’s excellent goalie before making an impact on the scoreboard. On his third attempt at goal, though, he scored without error. Real Madrid’s 2015–19 player Lucas Silva let Endrick alone in front of Rafael Cabral after he lost control of the ball. Endrick prevented the goalkeeper from making the third save by slipping past him.
Cruzeiro, who are primarily owned by Ronaldo, played better in the second half even though they were aware that the results from other regions of Brazil would make it more difficult for them to qualify for the Copa Sudamericana. Despite the negative response from the crowd, they persisted in their pursuit of an equalizer because of their recent performance. And in the 80th minute of the game, Nikão’s low shot from the outskirts of the box whizzed past Wéverton of Palmeiras, rewarding their efforts.
Endrick gave his team a scare in the first half, something he was able to run off, but the Verdão coach took him off with twenty minutes remaining to avoid injury. Ferreira substituted Estevão, a.k.a. “Messinho,” who made his maiden appearance for the main team as a reward for his outstanding performance in the U-17 World Cup.
The game ended in a draw, but the equalizer gave Endrick and Palmeiras the victory they needed to win the Brazilian championship for the second year in a row. The forward’s next major tests won’t occur until the end of January 2024, when he takes on Sao Paulo in the Brazilian Super Cup final and begins the Paulista Tournament. After completing the preparations, Endrick will finally join Real Madrid in the summer of 2024.
