The England team was seen looking happy before their first game under new boss Lee Carsley, which was against the Republic of Ireland.
Bukayo Saka, Jack Grealish, and other stars were happy to see the team’s base in Burton-on-Trent as they got ready for an early-season international break. Grealish was returned after missing Euro 2024.
As of last month, Carsley was hired. On Saturday night, he will play his first game with the Three Lions at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin in a Nations League match.
His first home game will likely be a little less noisy when they play Finland at Wembley three days later.
His chargers have been seen arriving at St. George’s Park this afternoon with their suitcases and washbags, ready to train for the two important games. Many of them are hoping to become early favorites of the new manager.
At the base, Grealish rolled not one but two bags into the front desk while giving the camera a sly grin.
The Man City star said he was “absolutely heartbroken” that he wasn’t picked for Gareth Southgate’s team this summer, but a good start to the season has put him in the plans of the new boss.
Saka, on the other hand, is usually pictured with a big smile, and today was no different as the winger brought four bags into the Burton training camp. He had a great first three games of the season, scoring a goal against Wolves.
Newer players like Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest, Angel Gomes of Lille, Noni Madueke of Chelsea, and Rico Lewis of City all looked happy to be there as they got out of their fancy 4x4s and sports cars and into the building.
Surprisingly, six of the players picked for this month’s group were also on Carsley’s under-21 team that beat Spain 1-0 to win the 2023 Olympics.
Gomes, Madueke, Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Anthony Gordon, and Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill from Chelsea all played for England that day.
And while most of England’s stars wore designer clothes and carried name-brand bags, Gordon carried his clothes in a black bin bag, which was very different from how his friends did it.
Marcus Rashford and Kyle Walker were two of the most notable players left out of Carsley’s first England squad pick for the Nations League games coming up.
Kieran Trippier was not available for selection because he retired from England duty last week, after 54 games.
Even though Gareth Southgate and Steve Holland are no longer on the coaching staff, Ben White is still not with the team.
Someone else who wasn’t able to play was Jude Bellingham, who got hurt while playing for Real Madrid.
There are also Aaron Ramsdale, Luke Shaw, Lewis Dunk, Joe Gomez, Adam Wharton, and Ivan Toney who made the Euro 2024 team but were not sent.
Carsley planned to “put my stamp on the squad” at his first press meeting after announcing the team. He also promised to ask players to “play to their strengths.”
When asked about leaving Walker out, Carsley said, “I wanted to make a mark on the squad.” Kyle hasn’t played this year. City is bringing him in slowly, and we need to accept that.
Gibbs-White and Gomes were both on Carsley’s U21 teams in the past, and Carsley said this about Morgan: “Morgan is attacking, full of energy, and has a great attitude.” Great rate of work. A lot of the people I’ve called in are used to winning.

When it comes to center midfield, Angel is different from what we’ve seen before. He doesn’t rule the game by being strong but by skill and technique.
As England’s temporary manager, one of his main jobs will be to try to get the best out of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold, which Southgate wasn’t able to do.
Alexander-Arnold played the first two games at Euro 2024 in midfield, but Southgate decided to switch him out.
