After the win, the three were seen at the Chiltern Firehouse, with Bellingham being the center of attention. The 20-year-old won the penalty that Harry Kane scored to tie the game after Gianluca Scamacca put Italy ahead. He also set up Marcus Rashford’s goal in the second half.
Alexander-Arnold and Maddison, on the other hand, were not used as substitutes because they had already played in England’s 1-0 friendly win over Australia on Friday. And before going back to play club football, Bellingham, Maddison, and Alexander-Arnold went to the 5-star hotel to celebrate England’s win.
Now that England has a spot in next year’s Euros, Bellingham is sure they can do “something special” in Germany. England came in second place at the last Euros, losing to Italy on penalties.
“As well as the young players, there’s a great mix of experience who guide us throughout the game and throughout the camps and there is a belief that we could do something special,” Bellingham said after Tuesday’s match.
“But it’s all about getting things done.” When the time comes, we have to be there, present, and ready to take on the task. To make sure we’ll be successful, we have to combine all of these things with what we know from the past and what we have in the locker room.
Gareth Southgate, the manager of England, said, “We have to accept the expectation. The truth is that we are one of the teams that can win the Euros, and we are fine with that.” The most important things are our mindset, having good skill players, and being physically fit. But we need to keep winning big games like tonight.
“We were really calm and in charge of the game.” This team has more to give. Based on the seeds, this was the hardest qualifying group. Some people think we don’t beat the best teams enough. We have done really well, though.
“So hungry, so eager to learn, and so bonded.” You could see that in the show tonight. We already said that attitude was the most important thing. Tonight’s show never stopped. We were very proud of how cool we were when we fell behind and how well we used the ball from behind. Too often in other big games, we’ve lost the ball.”
Maddison wore a baseball cap that was turned around, and Alexander-Arnold wore a plain white t-shirt under a checkered shirt. Bellingham wore a black leather jacket. Emily Atack, who plays Emily in “The Inbetweeners,” also went out with the football players after going to the Glamour Women of the Year Awards.
