Judge Bellingham was called a “fantastic example” after going out of his way to help a Real Madrid fan.
The star player, who is 20 years old, left Borussia Dortmund this summer to sign with Real Madrid for £115 million. After scoring 11 goals in 12 games for his new team, Bellingham hasn’t looked back since.
But what really struck people at the club was how mature he was and how eager he was to learn Spanish.
And Bellingham made sure he felt good about leaving the training ground by talking to the Madrid fans who were crowded around his car.
The England star stopped to sign shirts from the back seat of his mom’s car and took the time to make sure he got one fan’s name right. In the touching video, Bellingham is having trouble with the Spanish alphabet as a female fan starts to spell it out letter by letter.
Football fans quickly responded to what the Real Madrid player did. One said, “Class.”
Someone else wrote, “What a great example of a young man.”
Someone else said, “Respect Jude. People look up to him.”He’s not only a great football player, he has the patience of a saint,” said a third fan.
A fourth person said, “Jude’s patience really shows what kind of guy he is.”
It has been known for a long time that in La Liga, you need to find both your feet and your tongue.
At the Bernabeu, players from other countries are expected to learn the language and the way of life.
Just ask Gareth Bale, Steve McManaman, and Eden Hazard. They were all harshly criticized for what people saw as their lack of effort.
Fans often made fun of Bale for not being able to speak Spanish, even though he did learn it during his nine years in Spain.
But Bellingham shouldn’t have to deal with as much scrutiny because his bold and easy start at Real Madrid has made fans love him.
He was called “The New Boss of the Bernabeu” on the front page of the Spanish newspaper Diario AS.
