Atletico Madrid beat Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey, which was the worst loss Jude Bellingham has had with the team so far.
After extra time, Antoine Griezmann and Rodrigo Riquelme scored the key goals in a 4–2 loss for Real Madrid at home against their local foes.
The loss happened just four days after Carlo Ancelotti’s team won the Spanish Super Cup. It was an unusually bad night for them.
The Spanish giants had a terrible night at the Wanda Metropolitano. Griezmann’s goal and goals by Samuel Lino and Alvaro Morata in normal time cost them the game.
But Bellingham, who has had a great start to life in Madrid, played well again, even though he couldn’t add to his 17 goals for the club.
After working well with Vinicius Jr., he set up Joselu’s equalizer in the 82nd minute, which sent the game into extra time.
Many times, Bellingham made great runs. For example, early in the game, he beat two Atleti players, getting past one with a clever nutmeg before his shot hit the post.
And these fans are sure that Real Madrid number 5 was the best player in the game, even though their team lost.
“Best player on the field, he was let down,” said one fan.
“Jude Bellingham gave everything he had and never gave up,” said someone else. Tonight, he was let down.”
