Former Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood scored his first goal for Getafe in LaLiga⚽️⚽️

Outcast at Manchester United Getafe earned a point away at Celta Vigo on Sunday thanks to Mason Greenwood’s goal, which was his first LaLiga goal for the team.

On the last day to sign, United announced that the English forward, who turned 22 at the start of October, would be leaving the club because he was being charged with sexual assault. He then signed with Getafe.

His girlfriend brought those charges, which were later dropped, and United had looked into keeping the player after he came as a young boy.

But after backlash, it was reported that he would be leaving. He agreed to a one-year loan with Getafe, beating out Lazio, a big team in Serie A, to sign him.

After being out of the game for more than a year, Getafe boss Jose Bordalas said that the Madrid-based team will help the forward get used to his new home. He made his debut last month against Osasuna off the bench.

The Englishman played well in that game and won the corner kick that led to Getafe’s equalizer. However, some mean chants were directed at the former United attacker during his performance.

On Sunday, Greenwood started his second game for Getafe. He was put in the starting lineup up front with Borja Mayoral, a striker who used to play for Real Madrid.

Mayoral scored the first goal in just two minutes at Balaidos. After Celta tied the game through Jonathan Bamba, Greenwood scored to give Getafe the lead again.

In the 33rd minute, Mayoral got to the byline and sent a low pass across the face of the goal for his teammate. The 22-year-old smashed the ball into an empty net at the back post.

Celta’s Jorgen Strand Larsen scored the equalizer late in the first half, making it 2-2. There were no more goals in the second half.

With 10 points from nine games, Getafe is in 11th place, four spots ahead of Celta, which is in second-to-last place.
