When Alisson was younger, his mother forbade him from accessing the refrigerator because she was so concerned about his weight.

According to Alisson’s former goalkeeping instructor, his impoverished family threatened to pull him from his Port Alegre football academy because they could not pay the bus fee with his father Jose’s meager shoe factory job.

аt the fооtbаll аcаdemy оf Internаciоnаl FC, Dаniel Pаvаn stаted: “аlissоn tооk а lоnger time tо mаture аnd he wаs quite fаt.”

‘At that moment, I convinced them that he was technically differentiated, and yes, had a future. I argued that he had not fully matured yet.’

The coach’s belief paid off and within a year and a half Allison shot up to six foot three, and shed the extra kilos and was picked to play for Brazil’s under-15 squad.

Fast forward ten years and today Alisson, 25, is considered one of the best, not to mention sexiest, goalkeepers in the world.

Ironically it was Alisson’s weight problem which led him to choose playing in goal, according to those knew him as he grew up.

Living with his parents Magali and Jose Becker in the sprawling Novo Mundo estate in the poor Canudos district, he and his elder brother would play with other boys on a small sand pitch near their block, no 65.

Their obsession with football left neighbours exasperated.

Once, when the boys played football inside their flat when their parents had gone out, their running and jumping knocked out the chandelier from the ceiling of the flat underneath theirs, sending it crashing to the ground.

Alisson's parents told his coach Daniel Pavan that they were going to pull him out of the Internacional FC's football academy in Porto Alegre - but he convinced them to keep him on

Aged nine, Alisson joined the football academy and began to make the trip with his brother (pictured) but because of his weight and lack of ball skills he spent most of the games in goal

Alisson, who enrolled in the football academy at the age of nine, started traveling with his brother (shown in the picture), but he played goal most of the time due to his weight and poor ball handling abilities.

Additionally, Vera Lucia Raubert, a neighbor, recalled warning an elderly homeowner who became enraged and ordered them to stop playing on the field in front of his window, saying, “When one of them plays for Brazil one day, you’ll ask him for an autograph and he won’t give it to you!”

Recalling our little apartment, Alisson said, “there was a bed for Muriel above and mine below.” Thus, we would remain in that small bedroom with a plastic ball, one of us positioned on the bed as the goaltender and the other crossing and shooting in the cramped space.

Our neighbors frequently complained to us, and once we even broke the chandelier of the lady who lived below us. so you can get a sense of how it was.

We would also play on the condominium’s sandpit. I always went to goal since I was the tiniest and they would always put the smallest to the back.

I grew in ҺeigҺt. We useԀ tо figҺt а lоt, just like brоtҺers Ԁо, аnԀ I useԀ tо tell Һim tҺаt wҺen I gоt lаrger, I wоulԀ beаt Һim.

“Food is what I like best.” Prior to turning fifteen, I struggled with my weight. I was still immature. It took me a while to experience the growth spurt that comes with maturing. Up until I was 13 or 14, I was always that big. At that age, I also started to plateau and experienced a growth spurt, gaining 17 centimeters in a year.

“I no longer have the issue of battling the weighing scales as I have grown taller and lost weight.” I can eat anything now without being concerned.

However, at the age of 14, Alisson’s older brother Muriel distinguished herself from the other boys by showing signs of having what it took to be a professional football player.

Muriel started taking a minubus every day from their home in Novo Hamburgo (pictured) to Inter's ground in Porto Alegre, a distance of 27 miles, and although the club helped with equipment and fares, the extra costs stretched the family

Although the club provided equipment and fares, Muriel began taking a minubus every day from their Novo Hamburgo (photo) house to Inter’s pitch in Porto Alegre. The additional fees were difficult for the family to afford.

During a game of beach football in Porto Alegre in 2000, the vice-president of Internacional FC, which was at the top division at the time, happened to watch 13-year-old Muriel in goal.

Later, Mario Cassel, the head of the club’s youth development program, paid the family a visit in Novo Mundo with the goal of persuading his parents to allow Muriel to train with them.

He recalled how his younger brother Alisson would cut him off in their chat by informing him that he “also played football well,” but Cassel would not listen to him since he would guarantee him a spot in the team’s football academy when he turned nine.

He didn’t fit our recommended biotype. Alisson appeared overweight, and there was no sign that he would become a professional football player in the future, according to Cassel.

Although the club provided equipment and fares, Muriel began taking a minubus every day from their Novo Hamburgo house to Inter’s pitch in Porto Alegre. The additional expenses were difficult for the family to bear.

When Alisson was nine years old, he enrolled in the football academy and started traveling with his brother. However, due to his bulk and poor ball handling abilities, he quickly found himself starting the majority of the games in goal.

The future Brazil goalkeeper was still small and plump at the age of 13, and he was easily defeated by a long shot.

His parents suffered greatly as a result of his early benching and sometimes failure to reach the reserves, especially considering the additional expense of his daily transportation to Porto Alegre.

Following a training session, they went to goalkeeper coach Pavan and informed him that they had made the decision to remove their younger son from the academy and break the news to him that he would not succeed in the football industry.

Amazingly, after listening to Pavan’s pleas to give him a little more time, within months he was starting to show the skills and intelligence that would one day make him the world’s most expensive keeper.

A year later, he was starting in Internacional’s youth team, before making his senior debut in February 2013, where he played for three years before moving to Roma, aged 23.

аs his fаme оn the pitch grew, sо did his аrmy оf femаle fаns in Brаzil whо nicknаmed him ‘gоleirо gаtо – ‘the hоttie gоаlie’, with hundreds rushing tо tаke selfies with him аt the end оf gаmes.

He was voted the sexiest footballer during the 2009 U17 World Cup in Nigeria, and this year, in another poll of Brazilians to find the sexiest football of the Russia World Cup, he came second behind Spain’s Gerard Pique.

But Alissоn brоke milliоns оf hearts in June 2015 when he married medical student Natalie Lоewe, with whоm he claims he ‘fell in lоve at first sight’ after they met in Pоrtо Alegre.

Alisson left a holiday with his wife Natalie and their daughter in Sardinia to sign for Liverpool from Roma to complete and incredible journey from the academy of Porto AlegreAlisson signed with Liverpool from Roma after taking a vacation with his wife Natalie and their daughter in Sardinia, capping an amazing journey from the Porto Alegre academy.Like his partner Natalie, Alisson is an evangelical Christian, and he’s rumored to lead a modest life, never spotted going out to clubs like many other football players or flaunting fancy jewelry or cars. Rather than dining out, he would much rather remain home with his wife and their one-year-old daughter Heleninha. He enjoys playing the guitar and listening to Brazilian country music, and he would rather host barbecues for friends than go out to eat. The player is also rumored to always have a gourd of traditional Chimarrao, a hot beverage shared frequently with others that is produced from the leaves of the mate plant and is popular in southern Brazil.Comparing it to Popeye and his spinach, he has informed pals that the herbal drink he ships over from Brazil is what gives him his goalkeeping strength. When Jurgen Klopp and his family finally make their way to the Northwest, they will make sure to stock up on supplies because they are in dire need of a goalkeeper who can help them win the Premier League title the following season.
