From Good to Great: Salah Reaches Rare Milestone as Liverpool Climbs to Second in the Premier League

Salah is the fifth player to contribute to a goal in all six rounds of the Premier League, with a penalty kick to open the score in Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat of West Ham.

In the 15th minute, Salah was tripped by midfielder Nayef Aguerd in the penalty area, giving Liverpool a penalty. It was the Egyptian star who took responsibility for the penalty kick and defeated goalkeeper Alphonse Areola with a strong shot to the right wing.

Thanks to that, Salah became the fifth player to contribute to a goal in all six rounds of the Premier League, after David Beckham for Man Utd in the 2000-2001 season, Thierry Henry for Arsenal in the 2004-2005 season, and Sergio Aguero for Man City. season 2019-2020 and Erling Haaland for Man City in season 2022-2023.

Before playing West Ham, Salah contributed two assists in the 3-1 win over Wolves, one goal in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa, one assist in the 2-1 win over Newcastle, one goal in the 3-1 win over Bournemouth and an assist in the opening 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

In the 38th minute, Salah missed the opportunity to score a double when he curled his left foot wide of the post from a pass from Luis Diaz. Immediately, the homeowner had to pay the price. In the 42nd minute, Vladimir Coufal crossed from the right side so that Jarrod Bowen could fly and head diagonally, putting the ball out of goalkeeper Alisson’s reach.

In the second half, Liverpool dominated and continuously threatened the away team’s goal. In the 53rd minute, Salah created just enough but Darwin Nunez missed the target in an unmarked position from less than 11 meters away.

But the Uruguayan striker did not have to regret it for too long. Less than ten minutes later, 2022 World Cup champion Alexis Mac Allister placed the ball into the penalty area for Nunez to run down and kick a one-touch shot to the far corner, helping Liverpool regain the lead.

West Ham disillusionedly won a point in the 85th minute, when Van Dijk headed in the penalty area to Diogo Jota’s position for the Portuguese striker to connect, leaving goalkeeper Alphonse Areola rooted to the spot.
