It was because of this reason that Erik TEN HAG took Kobbie Mainoo off against Nottingham Forest.
When Mainoo came back from illness and joined the Manchester United first team, he was taken off at halftime against Forest. He had been wonderful since then.
With the 18-year-old on the floor, the score was 0-0, and neither team was able to make a big breakthrough.
But Ten Hag decided to take the young player off and put on Scott McTominay instead.
Then Manchester United’s defense broke down. Two passes that fell to the edge of the area, where a defensive player should be to keep the other team from scoring, led to goals for the home team.
After the game, Ten Hag said that the reason he took Mainoo off was for practical reasons and that he had “no regrets” about it.
He went even further with the sub by trying to explain why McTominay should be brought in.
The Dutch player said, “Scott [McTominay] brought energy, and I think our team played much better in the second half.”
“If you look closely, the first goal has nothing to do with the middle of the pitch.”
“The second goal came from poor communication.”
Fans were very angry about the answer.
There was a time when Twitter was called X. One fan wrote, “This man is just so lost.”
“Okay,” said the second. It’s time to leave. Enough is enough.
“How can you call that tactical while bringing in McTominay who offers absolutely nothing.”
“Fire him right away,” said a third.
Someone else said, “This guy has lost it.”
Five added: “Tactical to show Fergi & Sir Dave how bad McTominay is..”
The famous manager Sir Alex Ferguson and the new director, Sir Dave Brailsford, were in charge of the 2-1 loss.
A lot of angry Red Devils fans were also mad at Anthony Elanga because he pointed to the Nottingham Forest badge when he was taken off late in the game.
It was already a terrible year for Manchester United, but statistics show that their 21 losses in all games this year are the worst since 1972, when they lost 25.
