Furious Ajax captain Jordan Henderson yelled at former Aston Villa striker Bertrand Traore during the big Europa League win over Besiktas before team-mates broke up the brawl

Ajax beat Besiktas 4-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night, making their winning streak to five games. However, captain Jordan Henderson was not happy.

When left Bertrand Traore gave up the ball too easily, the former Liverpool captain got angry at Traore.

Even though Ajax was already up 3-0, Henderson felt the need to scold Traore in public. Traore seemed to react with some harsh words of his own.

Henderson got pushed away from Traore by two teammates, first Devyne Rensch and then Kian Fitz-Jim. He looked very angry.

He played down the situation, though, in an interview with Ziggo Sport after the game.

The 34-year-old man thought, “My moment with Traore?” That’s pretty normal if you watch me play over the years.

“Are you scared?” It’s game time! We want to get better and win. There is still a lot of time if we give up a goal. You’ll argue with each other sometimes, but that’s good because it keeps everyone on their toes.

Henderson played the whole game on Thursday night. He joined Ajax from Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League in January.

He touched the ball 70 times and finished 58 of them, which is 79%.

Fitz-Jim got the first goal in Amsterdam just after the half-hour mark.

The second goal of the night was scored by Mika Godts, who was set up by Traore. Keven Taylor then made it 3-0.

In the 73rd minute, Godts scored again to make it a 1-0 win.

Henderson later talked about how important it was to keep a clean sheet, which Ajax has done in six of their first eleven games this season.

He told CBS Sports, “From the beginning to the end, we looked like the better team.” Some great ideas and goals. We scored a lot of goals and kept a clean sheet, which was the most important thing. For the most part, it was a great night.

“Many things made me happy.” People may have said that we weren’t good enough when we had the ball because we didn’t take advantage of our chances or finish them off well.

“But tonight was great.”  We played great defense too, and as I already said, keeping a clean sheet is a big deal for us.

Henderson has talked in the past about how important it is to set and keep high standards. Last season, Ajax placed fifth in the Eredivisie, which was the worst finish for the club since 2000.

This season, Ajax is already 11 points behind PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch league, but Henderson and his team have two games in hand.
