After Gavi hurt his ACL, Barcelona boss Xavi has decided that Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso is the best player to add to the midfield.
Argentina’s Xavi has been a fan of the player for a long time and thinks he would be a great addition to Barcelona’s team with Robert Lewandowski.
Xavi has been paying attention to Lo Celso’s recent play. He has scored two goals in the last two Premier League games against tough opponents and set up a goal for Argentina against Brazil during the last international break. The 27-year-old player has shown on the field that he is versatile and creative, which makes him a good candidate for Barcelona’s midfield needs.
That’s what Sport says. Even though Xavi is interested and thinks Lo Celso and Lewandowski would work well together, Tottenham has been unwilling to start talks.
The club’s stance is reasonable, given that their team is severely injured and has been greatly diminished. Because of injuries to important midfielders like James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur, Tottenham can’t lose any more depth by selling a good player like Lo Celso.
Transfermarkt also says that the Argentine player still has a year and a half left on his deal with the Lilywhites. This contractual stability makes any possible talks even more difficult. Spurs are not interested in talking to Lo Celso right now because they need to keep their team stable and have a lot of players who can step in when things go wrong.
